Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about what you do?
I'm Ardavan Guity, deaf, and an American Sign Language user. I was born and raised in Tehran, Iran until 2013 when I came here to pursue higher education. I earned a PhD in linguistics at Gallaudet University. Currently, I work at Ohlone College in Northern California as the Director of Deaf Studies.
What motivated you to get a new headshot? How old was your previous headshot?
I often give presentations at workshops and conferences in the USA and internationally. I have several headshots, but they are from my university days. I've decided I want to have a good one now.
How did you feel about your old headshot, and what were you looking for in your new one?
When I got new photos, it was amazing. I showed my colleagues, and they mentioned that the photos are of high quality and attractive. Also I looked at my headshots, I felt they were not professional or attractive.
In what ways do you think your new headshot has impacted your business, visibility or job search?
I think so too, because when I showed them, they already loved the new headshot.
Have you received any feedback on your new headshot?
Positive and impressive comments
How important do you think a professional headshot is for someone in your field?
A professional headshot is crucial in my field because it serves as a visual representation of my professionalism and expertise.
What advice would you give to someone considering getting a new headshot?
Yes, definitely! I recommend getting a professional headshot regardless of a field.
Were you nervous or uncomfortable with the idea of having your photos taken and if so how was the experience in the end?
No, I was not nervous or uncomfortable. I already knew I needed a new headshot.
How did you prepare for your headshot session, and do you have any tips for others on how to get ready for theirs?
I slept well and without stress because I knew he would do a good job taking photos. Also, I bought several plain clothes to ensure I could get advice from the photographer.
How was your experience working with S72 for your headshot session?
Respectful and flexible! I could trust and listen to you. As a deaf person, you tried to use gestures to ensure I could follow along. I really appreciated that a lot.
