Client Stories: information security & risk management professional Cameron Smith
Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about what you do?
I am an information security, technology audit and risk management professional. I have worked in high tech and retail for over 20 years.
What motivated you to get a new headshot? How old was your previous headshot?
I was updating my LinkedIn details and decided I wanted to replace the selfie I was using from 2022.
How did you feel about your old headshot, and what were you looking for in your new one?
The previous photo was a selfie. It was a good photo, but was more informal and casual.
In what ways do you think your new headshot has impacted your business, visibility or job search?
I am not sure yet since it is so new, but I already like how it looks.
Have you received any feedback or comments on your new headshot?
All the feedback has been very positive and encouraging.
How important do you think a professional headshot is for someone in your field?
I do not think it is a requirement, but it is the icing on the cake for my online professional presence.
What advice would you give to someone considering getting a new headshot?
I would say they should go for it. Seeing the professional quality photos of myself has boosted my self-confidence overall.
Were you nervous or uncomfortable with the idea of having your photos taken and if so how was the experience in the end?
I was a little nervous at first, but Jeff made the experience approachable and relaxing. It was a little weird seeing so many different poses of myself at first (lol), but I did like going through all of them and picking out the best ones. I also got input from friends and family on which ones they thought were the best.
How did you prepare for your headshot session, and do you have any tips for others on how to get ready for theirs?
I made sure to get plenty of sleep in the days before. Since everyone says “the camera adds ten pounds,” I also restricted my calorie intake for a few days so I would look thinner on camera. I think it helped. (haha)
How was your experience working with S72 for your headshot session?
The experience with Jeff was very easy going. He made me feel relaxed and at ease as he took the photos. I appreciated the coaching and direction on which poses to use, when to smile, how to stand, etc. I have never had a personal photo shoot before and needed help finding poses that felt natural and expressed the “true me.”
