Client Stories: Los Gatos Dentist Sagar Shah

Headshot of Sagar Shah in a San Francisco studio against a dark grey backdrop

Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about what you do?

My name is Sagar Shah and I am 38 years old. I currently reside in Los Gatos, CA and work as a dentist. My passion is reading, writing, and connecting with others on a deeper level. I recently adopted a toddler from an orphanage in India. She is an absolute joy. Overall, I just love life.

What motivated you to get a new headshot?  How old was your previous headshot?

It was something I felt I just needed since I could not recall ever getting a professional one. I need some to put up for my work website, sending professional biodata information, and honestly, a new social media picture.

How did you feel about your old headshot, and what were you looking for in your new one?

I wanted something that would capture my persona or strike curiosity with anyone taking a look at it. Looking to get a new headshot to let the world how I have reinvented myself.

In what ways do you think your new headshot has impacted your business, visibility or job search?

More than anything, it shows the world the new you. Like a resume, the picture conjured the idea that there is always more than meets the eyes. As a result, I think it was effective in eliciting interviews and increased interest in general.

Have you received any feedback or comments on your new headshot?

People thought it was fire!

How important do you think a professional headshot is for someone in your field?

Very important. I think it can exude a level of confidence and approachability. A picture is worth a thousand words, right?

What advice would you give to someone considering getting a new headshot?

Take the time to groom and look the way you want. Think of it as the world is waiting to see the new you.

Were you nervous or uncomfortable with the idea of having your photos taken and if so how was the experience in the end?

I was hoping that it would be exactly what I was envisioning, considering I was paying a pretty penny for it.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience or the impact of your new headshot?

I think we all reinvent ourselves. For so long, I had a typical hairstyle part, and later tried to grow a manbun. Unfortunately, back in 2020, I battled cancer. Luckily I overcame it and it gave me my new bald look, which I never knew would suit me. This new facade, along with a unique facial hair preference, elevates my being to what many would call "free-spirited." This is what I hope to share on your website series with a new headshot.

How was your experience working with S72 for your headshot session?

The first one was smooth. Hope to give more input during the shoot, rather than just looking at them all at the end, thinking that some good ones are there.
