Client Stories: Director of Technology Sina Golshany
Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about what you do?
I am Sina Golshany, the Director of Technology at Fabricated Extrusion. We are a provider of engineering, manufacturing, and consulting services and work with industries ranging from high-tech to aerospace to resolve engineering and manufacturing difficulties and help get products to market that others deem impossible.
What motivated you to get a new headshot? How old was your previous headshot?
I noticed that my older headshot wasn't conveying who I was anymore. In my field of work, it is important to make an accurate and on-point first impression. This is often done on the web and social media, and your profile picture is typically the very first thing a client sees about you - so it needs to be perfect to leave a good first impression.
How did you feel about your old headshot, and what were you looking for in your new one?
I felt that my old headshot didn't convey a feeling - it was very cold and clinical. The lighting was flat, the backdrop was plain, the sharpness was not tasteful, and it didn't convey who I am.
In what ways do you think your new headshot has impacted your business, visibility or job search?
Once I changed my profile picture there was an immediate uptick in my consulting engagements - it had an immediate and visible effect on the type and volume of projects I was able to secure. It conveys who I am more honestly than any headshots I have had in the past.
Have you received any feedback on your new headshot?
Yes, I have had clients compliment it and ask who took it. I am also a landscape photographer and have an eye for quality photographs, so my clients tend to appreciate the recommendation on a different level.
How important do you think a professional headshot is for someone in your field?
Very. It is the first impression a client often gets. In the competitive business world of today, any impression can make or break the prospects for a business engagement, and a soulful headshot goes a long way in giving the client confidence.
What advice would you give to someone considering getting a new headshot?
Just relax, Jeff knows what he is doing and will help get the best out of you. Just don't over overthink it.
Were you nervous or uncomfortable with the idea of having your photos taken and if so how was the experience in the end?
I was. But Jeff does a great job in organizing and coaching the shoot so you can be sure you'd be happy with the results.
How did you prepare for your headshot session, and do you have any tips for others on how to get ready for theirs?
I was traveling from a long way away for the shoot, so I had to do some planning. Making sure I have the right wardrobe and get there on time. Jeff's email with the helpful tips was a huge help in getting the best headshots.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience or the impact of your new headshot?
