Client Stories: Architect Alan Chiang
Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about what you do?
My name is Alan Chiang. I am a licensed Architect, and a senior designer in a global architecture firm.
What motivated you to get a new headshot? How old was your previous headshot?
My previous headshot was taken 4-5 years prior to this one. It was at a point of my career where I really wanted to represent myself well.
How did you feel about your old headshot, and what were you looking for in your new one?
The old headshot was taken without professional setup including lighting and background. It was basically a picture that showed my face. I was looking for a headshot that spoke for my aesthetic as an Architect.
In what ways do you think your new headshot has impacted your business, visibility or job search?
It is important to give my potential clients a good first impression, especially as a member in the design industry.
Have you received any feedback on your new headshot?
Multiple compliments. My colleagues appreciated the color and lighting of the picture. It look professional but also cool and refreshing.
How important do you think a professional headshot is for someone in your field?
As architects, it is very important for us to represent ourselves well in all graphical ways. It is equivalent to the care we put into our design work.
What advice would you give to someone considering getting a new headshot?
If you are considering a new headshot, it is worth paying slightly more on a really good one. You will be happy to use a good headshot for many years.
Were you nervous or uncomfortable with the idea of having your photos taken and if so how was the experience in the end?
I was not too nervous because I believed that a good photographer would give enough guidance on what I should do and the experience wit Jeff was better than what I expected.
How did you prepare for your headshot session, and do you have any tips for others on how to get ready for theirs?
Wear an outfit that represents yourself, smart looking without being too formal.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience or the impact of your new headshot?
I am using the headshots for so many different purposes, other than just my business. The photo is so cool that I even use it on social media.
How was your experience working with S72 for your headshot session?
Very pleasant. I was very confident with Jeff's work so I just followed his advice on what to do.
