Client Stories: Global Director of Education Solutions Shannon Cobourn
Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about what you do?
My name is Shannon Cobourn, I’m the Global Director of Education Solutions for an enterprise software company.
What motivated you to get a new headshot? How old was your previous headshot?
I often speak at events and need to have a photo and bio to promote my session. My last professional headshot was probably 6 years old.
How did you feel about your old headshot, and what were you looking for in your new one?
I’d been using a selfie for a while because my old headshot was so out of date. It was not very professional and when I appeared on a program with other speakers, my photo stood out as low quality. I really just wanted something that looked like me on a great day.
In what ways do you think your new headshot has impacted your business, visibility or job search?
The new headshot is much more reflective of my role and reflects confidence which is what I’d hoped for.
Have you received any feedback on your new headshot?
I immediately got loads of compliments on it since I changed every single online photo of myself.
How important do you think a professional headshot is for someone in your field?
Event organizers really prefer the headshot of speakers to reflect the caliber of the event. Now mine does.
What advice would you give to someone considering getting a new headshot?
I waited a long time, especially after the pandemic, in hopes I’d magically feel photogenic and be comfortable but I never was. My advice is to just do it. Great lighting and a professional makes all the difference.
Were you nervous or uncomfortable with the idea of having your photos taken and if so how was the experience in the end?
No one likes having their photo taken. But the experience was easy and fast.
How did you prepare for your headshot session, and do you have any tips for others on how to get ready for theirs?
I kept it very simple because I wanted to look like myself, not an over-coiffed, over-dressed caricature of myself. And then I just relaxed into it. I wish I’d loosened up a bit more, but maybe next time.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience or the impact of your new headshot?
Just that it was easy and fast.
How was your experience working with S72 for your headshot session?
Really good. Got the proofs fast. Love the options of warm and cool filters.
