Client Stories: Director of Clinical Data Solutions Veronica Vu
Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about what you do?
My name is Veronica Vu, I'm a bay-area native, data professional who has spent the majority of my career supporting novel clinical trial software development for medical devices and pharma. I'm currently Director of Clinical Data Solutions at Faro Health Inc. where I provide leadership and advisory for Faro Health's data products. Running a clinical trial is incredibly complex. The Faro product suite helps researchers navigate this complexity with ease by showing them the impact of their design decisions in real-time with real world data-driven insights.
What motivated you to get a new headshot? How old was your previous headshot?
My headshot prior to this was done through my employer in 2018. You come across your own headshot often in your day-to-day working in tech, especially in a remote-work setting.
How did you feel about your old headshot, and what were you looking for in your new one?
It was starting to feel like I was looking at a different person every time I saw it and I knew it was time for a change. I wanted something that better represented who I am today and how far I had come in my career since my last headshot was taken.
In what ways do you think your new headshot has impacted your business, visibility or job search?
Since using this new headshot, I received more messages from recruiters on LinkedIn for more senior roles. Granted, my title changed around the same time, but I like to think the headshot helped to reinforce me as a leader.
Have you received any feedback on your new headshot?
A lot of comments about how professional I look - exactly the outcome I hoped for!
How important do you think a professional headshot is for someone in your field?
Headshots are a necessity for anyone in the workforce. First impressions are everything, and a headshot projects you as a confident professional to others at the start of your interactions.
What advice would you give to someone considering getting a new headshot?
“Professional" doesn't have to mean "cookie-cutter"! Go for a photographer who will work with you to ensure your personality comes through.
Were you nervous or uncomfortable with the idea of having your photos taken and if so how was the experience in the end?
I don't love getting my photo taken, and I was worried that nerves would skew the outcome. The whole experience felt like it only took two minutes! This was perfect for me as the longer I spend in front of a camera, the more forced my smile becomes.
How did you prepare for your headshot session, and do you have any tips for others on how to get ready for theirs?
I planned an afternoon in the city. The S72 studio is centrally located, so I was able to get my hair and makeup done at different locations that were all within quick walking distance of the studio. So easy!
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience or the impact of your new headshot?
Nope
How was your experience working with S72 for your headshot session?
Quick and painless! I couldn't believe how fast Jeff was able to get a decent set of images to choose from. His easy-going attitude and the laid-back feel of the studio was a big departure from many commercial photo studios I'd been to before (in the best way). Bonus, he has a cute dog who was there for the session!
