Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about what you do and your industry?

My name is Mark Love. I'm a labor relations and human resources professional based in the Bay Area. My passion for labor relations began early in my career when I negotiated contracts on behalf of school employees in Southern California. I instantly realized I love being in the room where meaningful conversations happen and helping people find common ground.

Over the past decade, I've served as a dedicated labor relations leader for public agencies in the Bay Area, partnering with leadership teams to navigate complex workplace issues thoughtfully and strategically. More recently, I've been broadening my work into the larger HR space, which allows me to take a more holistic approach to supporting organizations and the people who power them.

What motivated you to get a new headshot? How old was your previous headshot?

I had never had a professional headshot before. I realized I was investing a lot in my professional growth and reputation and that my photo should reflect that. The timing felt right to be intentional about my personal brand, and a professional headshot was an important part of that investment.

How did you feel about your old headshot prior to coming to me, and what were you looking for in your new one?

My old headshot wasn't bad, but it was dated and didn't fully reflect where I am professionally today. I wanted something that conveyed what I aim to bring to my work every day: professionalism, confidence, and approachability. In my field, people need to feel comfortable talking to you — even when the conversations are tough — so that balance was important to me.

In what ways do you think your new headshot has impacted your business, visibility or job search?

It's given me a real sense of confidence. In today's world, your online presence often creates the first impression. When someone views my profile, I feel good knowing the image they see reflects the professional I am. That confidence carries over into networking and professional conversations.

Have you received any feedback or comments on your new headshot?

Yes, exceptionally positive feedback. Colleagues and friends have commented that the photo really looks like me, which I take as the highest compliment. I'm genuinely very happy with how it turned out.

How important do you think a professional headshot is for someone in your field?

At the managerial and executive level, it's very important. In HR and labor relations, trust and credibility matter. A polished, professional photo helps reinforce both.

What advice would you give to someone considering getting a professional headshot?

First impressions absolutely matter, especially in a world where so much of our networking happens online. If your headshot makes you feel confident, that confidence translates. I'd also say preparation makes a difference. Think about how you want to show up. Jeff's pre-shoot guidance was incredibly helpful in clarifying the look and tone I wanted. A little intentionality goes a long way.

Were you nervous or uncomfortable with the idea of having your photos taken and if so how was the experience in the end?

If you tell me to "pose," I promise it will look like I'm posing. That's not my strength. My best photos happen when I'm relaxed and smiling naturally. Jeff made the entire experience remarkably easy and efficient. The environment felt comfortable, not staged or awkward, and that made all the difference. The results speak for themselves — and I think that's because the process put me at ease.

How did you prepare for your headshot session, and do you have any tips for others on how to get ready for theirs?

My biggest tip: read Jeff's emails. He really does help you prepare. I chose my suit and shirt well in advance, visited my longtime barber the week before, and made sure to arrive a few minutes early so I wasn't rushed. Beyond that, I focused on showing up relaxed and ready. Preparation builds confidence.

Is there anything else you'd like to share about your experience or the impact of your new headshot?

Effortless. The process was organized, professional, and efficient — which I deeply appreciate. I was able to focus on being present, and the end result exceeded my expectations.

How was your experience working with S72 for your headshot session?

Jeff - It was nice working with you. You were efficient and prepared which made the process more comfortable for me. Thank you!
